Who we are
Moloni is a SaaS platform offering online invoicing and business management solutions for the Portuguese market, with more than 40.000 customers. Our mission is to simplify management for small and medium-sized businesses. Our vision is to build the simplest, most intuitive and most efficient invoicing software on the market.
We are an AI-first company, part of the Visma group, with offices in Vila Real and Seia.
What you'll do
As a SysAdmin, you make sure the infrastructure serving more than 40,000 businesses is available, secure and ready to grow. You will work as part of a team to keep our servers, network and cloud services running smoothly.
Your responsibilities
Operations and availability
- Administer, maintain and update Linux (Ubuntu) servers in production.
- Monitor systems and services, set up alerts and act before an issue reaches the customer.
- Manage backups and disaster recovery plans, and test them regularly.
- Respond to incidents, find the root cause and make sure they don't happen again.
Security
- Apply patches, hardening and security best practices across servers and network.
- Manage privileged access and credentials, following the principle of least privilege.
- Comply with the Visma group's security standards.
Automation and cloud
- Automate repetitive tasks with scripting and infrastructure as code.
- Support operations on Google Cloud Platform and the evolution of our infrastructure.
- Work with Engineering on deployments, pipelines and application performance.
Documentation and knowledge sharing
- Document systems, procedures and runbooks, so that no one depends on a single person.
- Use AI tools in day-to-day operations, like the rest of the team.
What we're looking for
Essential
- A degree in Computer Engineering, Networking, Telecommunications or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years administering Linux servers in production, ideally Ubuntu or Debian.
- Solid networking knowledge: TCP/IP, DNS, firewalls, VPN and load balancing.
- Experience with web services and databases in production.
- Experience with monitoring, alerting, backups and disaster recovery.
- Scripting for automation, in Bash and/or Python.
- Working proficiency in Portuguese, and technical English, written and spoken.
- Availability to join a shared out-of-hours on-call rota.
Nice to have
- Experience with Google Cloud Platform (Compute Engine, Cloud SQL, IAM, VPC networking).
- Infrastructure as code (Terraform, Ansible).
- Containers and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
- CI/CD pipelines.
- Certifications such as LPIC, RHCSA or Google Cloud Associate Cloud Engineer.
- Experience with security standards (ISO 27001, NIS2).
- Soft skills that make the difference
- Calm under pressure: when a system goes down, you're the one who thinks clearly.
- Responsibility: you follow every issue through until it's solved, and you know when to escalate.
- Documentation discipline: you write so that others can do what you do.
- Clear communication: you can explain a technical problem to a non-technical person.
- Curiosity: you love learning, including new ways of working with AI.
- Team spirit: you work well in pairs and with Engineering.
